Adriana Costa, Registered Psychological Associate
Hi, I’m Adriana, and I am a registered psychological associate working under the supervision of Sherna Perez and Dr. Carmelinda Mann. I am so glad you’re here and seeking support for yourself or your family! I see clients in-person in Oakland and remotely throughout California. I would be honored to accompany you on this next step in your journey towards a fuller life.
I hold a doctorate in clinical psychology from the Wright Institute and have been providing clinical services since 2018. I have worked with adults, children, couples, and families in various settings, including in schools, community mental health, private practice, and juvenile detention facilities.
In collaboration with Sherna Perez, I support children and families experiencing life transitions, including separation and divorce, family court involvement and high-conflict family dynamics. My approach with families is to remain neutral, child-led, and child-centered, supporting families in understanding and meeting their children’s needs. My style with children is warm, authentic, and playful, allowing me to meet children where they are. I support children and families to gain the tools to manage the anxiety often associated with transition.
My goal as a therapist is to support you and your family as you rewrite the next chapter of your story into one that feels authentically your own. In my approach, I draw primarily from psychodynamic, relational, and narrative techniques while looking through a social-justice and trauma-informed lens. I strongly believe in the reparative and healing powers of a collaborative therapeutic relationship that meets one’s unique needs. As such, I will provide you with a space that is warm, accepting, and free of judgment, encouraging you to come in exactly as you are. I aim to approach each therapeutic encounter with curiosity and to view you as the expert of your own life and experiences. My approach is strengths-based, meaning we will work together to help you harness your pre-existing strengths and apply them in your relationships and all other areas of your life.
